Volunteers Crucial in Accomplishing The Tide Mission

For many, summer is a time to schedule vacations and take a break from work, but The Tide ministry activities around the globe continue as our partners engage to spread the Gospel. The regular recording and production of fresh radio programming for each of the 25 languages is a constant process, and so is the accompanying work of helping curious listeners become committed disciples of Christ through correspondence, literature distribution, personal contact and organized events. Introduction of the Gospel in Pakistan Was a Two-Year Journey

Thanks to a new partnership—and a two-year process—in Pakistan, we are now sharing the hope of Jesus Christ over the airwaves in the Pashtu and Saraiki languages. The journey to begin these broadcasts that are reaching thousands with the unwavering truth of the Bible began two years ago. Radio programming in partnership with the Pakistani Christian Recording Ministry began in early 2020. “In 2018, we identified four unreached people groups in Pakistan that do not have Gospel radio programming available in their own language,” said Don Shenk. “Our vision is to be sharing the Gospel with all four groups in their own language within the next five years. In 2020, God opened a door for us to take a major step forward by enabling our partner ministry in Pakistan to recruit ministry teams to record and broadcast radio programs and conduct discipleship activities in two of those languages.” One of these teams is working with and reaching out to the Pashtun people who live in the northern are...

According to the Christian persecution watchdog group, Persecution.org , Nepal is home to one of the fastest growing Christian communities in the world. In fact, the organization reports, the latest figures suggest there are now approximately 13,000 churches in the former Hindu kingdom. These growing Christian communities in Nepal, however, are not without grave challenges. “Nepal has historically been a Hindu stronghold, but in 2008, the nation drafted an interim constitution that gave Nepali citizens some religious freedom rights,” said Don Shenk. “This change also allowed more ministries like The Tide to make inroads in Nepal. But in 2015, a new constitution was adopted after government officials debated for several years. At that time, Nepal was officially established as a secular country, and its citizens were given religious liberties. But simultaneously, anti-conversion language was added to the constitution, making it punishable for Christians and other believers to share thei...
