On January 4, a group of guys in central Pennsylvania got together—not for a big game, a hike or a hunt—but they did have one very unique thing in common. All had committed to growing their beards for an entire year to help raise awareness and funds for The Tide! For the 2019 “Year Beard” challenge, 16 men grew their beards all year long, while several others committed to shorter growing periods—eight for “No Shave November,” one for a three-month period, and five for six months. “We are excited to announce that the inaugural Year Beard challenge raised over $27,000 for The Tide global Gospel ministry,” said The Tide Director of Development Mark D. CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.— All year long, a group of brave men has grown their beards—no shaving allowed—for a good cause. The unique “ Year Beard ” challenge from  The  Tide ®   ( www.thetide.org )   global radio ministry seeks to raise funds and awareness about how the ministry spreads the Gospel worldwide. One college-aged participant, Abraham Riggin, is embarking on a final push to finish Year Beard strong by conducting a radio broadcast marathon at Lancaster Bible College, where the communication major is involved in the radio program. CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.— Men who weren’t quite brave enough to be a part of The Tide® ( www.thetide.org ) ministry’s unique “Year Beard” challenge during all of 2019 still have a chance to help the global radio organization raise funds and awareness as it spreads the Gospel worldwide. The Tide ministry and “ Year Beard ” participants are on the cusp of a special monthlong observation called “No Shave November,” where guys who grow goatees, a beard or even a mustache can make a shorter facial hair commitment yet still help more people learn about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Fourteen men have been growing their beards all year with a $1,000 fundraising goal each to help The Tide ministry purchase more airtime for its Gospel radio broadcasts in Asia, Africa and Europe. A motivating factor is the knowledge that for every dollar given, 20 more people worldwide can hear about Jesus.
