Violence is nearly an everyday occurrence in Nigeria, with many living in fear of attacks on their farms, homes or churches. Reports vary as to who is responsible for the attacks, as well as who is being targeted specifically, whether farmers or Christians. Regardless of the reasoning behind the violence, The Tide ®  reaches the people of Nigeria with the Good News and saving hope of Jesus Christ. In 2009, The Tide ministry began broadcasting radio programming in Nigeria in the Efik language, and since then, has added programming in 10 more languages. Our minds are exposed to a lot such as the internet and television, but God desires that we keep our minds clean. Paul says let your mind be renewed (Romans 12:3). News of violence against Christians has made frightening and disturbing headlines lately, but there are also many other challenges Nigerians face in their everyday lives.  The Tide ®  has been broadcasting programming in Nigeria for nearly 10 years. As human beings, we make choices daily.  These choices could on small things such as choosing what to wear, friends up to greater things such as careers, relationships and other earthly activities that generally improve our lives. Yes, all these usually determine what becomes of us whilst here on earth. Then the biggest question becomes: Is your life safe when you die? Have you made that choice? When a congregation from a church in Gjakova, Kosovo, traveled to a town square to worship God and pray, they had no idea who might join them. But when a group of interested teenagers flocked to the church group, doors were opened for young lives to be changed by Christ. We are searched by the scripture and so soon forget, we are moved by a sermon–but then go our ways, “one to his farm, another to his merchandise.”   James makes his point clear. The Word of the Lord, or the minister, may draw the portrait. And it may be accurate enough. It may be frightening and sometimes embarrassing. But then so soon we go our ways and forget to do anything about it. Hearers but not doers of the work. We are like a man that promises to pay his bill and yet never does. My walk with Jesus began when I was a five-year-old who was convicted of my sin and wanted to be forgiven.  I was blessed with a rich heritage of faith, and as I grew older, I also grew in my understanding of and commitment to Jesus Christ.  After college I worked as an engineer, but felt a nudge from the Lord to gain discipleship training and ministry experience.  I joined what was then Kingdom Building Minstries’ summer discipleship program in 1999 where I had my first experience in overseas short-term missions, spending a month in Thailand teaching English as a practical mission outreach.  During this time, I sensed God’s calling to future mission service. I returned to my engineering job at the end of the summer and then interned with KBM to help lead a team to China for a month in the summer of 2000.  During these trips, God confirmed in me a heart for reaching the nations with his love and a commitment to be obedient to participate in this great task....

We  have been partnering with local pastors and Christian groups in Kosovo for more than two years, and tangible impact is being felt. A pastor in Kosovo who broadcasts Gospel radio programming in partnership with The Tide ministry also leads a congregation in Gjakova. The group has expanded its outreach into the nearby town of Klina through contacts with radio listeners there. “Our partner pastor reports that the opportunities and the openness of people in Klina has surprised everyone,” said Director Don Shenk. “God has opened many doors and allowed our ministry partners to meet key and influential people, but also many poor families. This spring, a local church visited the director of Social Welfare in Klina and was provided with a list of 11 families in need. Thousands of music fans and followers of Jesus gathered at Agape Farm in Mount Union, Pennsylvania, last week to hear from their favorite musicians, worship God and enjoy creation. For many years, The Tide ® has had a presence at the Creation Festival at the center of the Keystone State. And for the past several years, The Tide ministry has shared just how easy it is to share the Gospel with people around the world.   We  broadcast Gospel radio programming in 25 heart languages in eight nations on three continents. The Tide ® recently began offering Gospel radio messages in the Bhatri language to a primitive people group in India, and the broadcaster of this new programming is sharing his testimony of life change. David was brought up in a Hindu family, and began listening to the Trans World Radio Christian programs on a radio his father had purchased. Slowly, David came understand there is a living God who can give him peace, and he was able to see the power of God that changed his life. Once he gave his life to Jesus, David attended Jharsuguda Bible College and earned a bachelor’s degree in theology. If one draws close to the Lord, his selfishness will disappear. You can generally know how close on is to the Lord by how unselfishly he lives. I have never known of any truly great Christian that lived selfishly.   And as for forgiveness, nothing that I know puts more sweetness deep down in the sould than forgiveness. An unforgiving spirit and bitterness go together. So the way to develop sweet Christian radiance is to be forgiving–not only when others may ask it, but before they ask–forgive. It was while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He has said, “If we forgive not, then we will not be forgiven.” If we forgive, God will forgive and then we can come boldly to a throne of grace. The Bhottada people of India are a primitive group of farmers, and they have no radio programming in their own language—no way to hear about the hope, love and saving grace of Jesus Christ–until now.  The Tide ® is introducing Gospel programming in a new language—Bhatri—to reach this precious, and valued by God, people group in India. “The Bhottada tribes are agriculturists, so farming is their main source of livelihood, raising paddy rice in the wet lands of the region,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Thus far, the Bhottada have never heard about how Jesus Christ can truly change their lives. The spirit is quick and powerful to discern in detail our motives. God sees our innermost being. That is where he inspects our motives, our inner secret desires, our meditations, our affections. The mission of The Tide ®  is to creatively share the Good News of Jesus Christ worldwide through media and partnerships. This is exactly what’s happening in Thailand, where The Tide  shares the Gospel in the Isaan language, spoken by 19 million people. Reading: Isaiah 58:3-7 The men of Israel had many feasts and fasts which they observed. They thought that if they refrained from food either totally or partially, the Lord would be pleased with them. They found it easier to refrain from food than it was to stop sinning. In fact they had no real intention to break off their sins. The Lord was so displeased that he refused to dwell among them. Less than 2 percent of the population in Thailand believes in Jesus, but The Tide ®  is hoping to grow this tiny yet significant group by reaching listeners in unconventional ways. Securing radio airtime in this predominantly Buddhist nation can be challenging, but we  have been impacting souls with the hope of Christ through audio Gospel recordings in the Isaan language, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. Though not yet airing over a radio station, the “Life Answers” program is distributed and utilized on portable media players called Envoy or Storyteller devices. Last fall, Christians in Nepal suffered a blow to their religious freedom when the government enacted an anti-conversion law that criminalizes Christians for sharing their faith in Jesus. Now, many Nepali Christians have signed a petition urging the government to remove the law, according to Mission Network News . A pastor in Nepal told the news outlet that the signing of the law has brought fear in the lives of Christians. The Tide ® has been producing and broadcasting weekly Christian programming in Nepal since 2004 with the airing of “Prasasta Jivan” which means “Abundant Life” in English. It’s that time of year now when those little yellow flowers start popping up here and there in my yard. Like so many other people, I’ll now be waging a continuous battle against the dandelions in my yard that will last the whole year from spring through summer and fall. Yes, I am making it sound like dandelions are my enemy, so what would you think if I told you I wanted to be like a dandelion?   You’d probably think I was crazy, but let me explain. I remember one particular spring day several years ago when my son and I were working at digging some stubborn dandelions out of a flower bed.   I had explained to my son the importance of getting the whole root out.
